Meet Ellen Alderton
I help mission-driven organizations transform ambitious ideas into sustainable initiatives.
For more than 25 years, I have worked with nonprofits, government agencies, and international organizations to design innovative programs, build strategic partnerships, secure funding, strengthen working groups and leadership teams, and communicate ideas that inspire action.
Throughout my career, I have secured more than $12 million for nonprofit organizations. I have designed national initiatives, developed public education campaigns reaching 90 percent of U.S. Spanish-language radio audiences, and currently lead production of a PBS documentary exploring the life and work of pioneering psychiatrist Alfred Adler.
My consulting is informed by an interdisciplinary academic background. I hold a master’s degree in international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where I specialized in strategic studies, environmental and energy policy, and economics. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wellesley College and a Certificate in Mixed Methods Research from the University of Michigan. This combination of strategy, research, and policy informs every aspect of my consulting practice.
I have worked and consulted for leading national and international organizations including the United Nations, the Peace Corps, Mental Health America, and Special Olympics International.
I also bring specialized expertise in Adlerian psychology. Trained in Adlerian personality assessment by one of Alfred Adler’s original students, I apply these principles to leadership development, team building, organizational change, and hiring. I am a recipient of the President’s Award from the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology.
I believe the best solutions emerge through collaboration. My role is to help organizations recognize opportunities, ask better questions, build meaningful partnerships, and develop practical strategies that create lasting impact. I look forward to learning about your organization and exploring how we can work together.
